If they're able to get WR points by doing this, guess they'll be around for much longer than originally thought.

Yeah

There will be a few guys that jump over here pretty soon

LIV was losing the battle with OWGR and had to conform since nothing else is working with LIV golf.

That's one requirement for OWGR that they will now meet. But it's still a closed shop with no discernible means of qualifying or losing your card. I think they are still a ways away of getting points.

I think they are working on those things as well

Yeah they have some type of association with the Aisian Tour. That will likely be the pathway.

Dont they already have it set up that you can lose your spot on a team?

They'll get to where they can get points. However, I still expect some big name defections back to the PGAT after 2026. Lots of deals come up after this year, and now that these dudes secured generational **** you money, I expect several to head back. LIV is finally caving on this because they know that's a threat looming.

Will they change the name of the tour to LXXII?

It can't just be that you could lose your spot on a team if your team subjectively kicks you out. I think it will have to be fair and objective across the board about how people lose spots and how the new spots are filled. Which it certainly isn't as currently constructed. So I agree with the other posters that they will likely have to make other drastic changes.

And what happens if one of the big name guys who got paid a ton (like Phil or DJ) get relegated? Do they still get paid?

Theoretically, but it's generally understood that the vast majority of the guys have it in their contract that they can't be relegated.

Yeah I have no idea

I wasnt sure if the relegation rule was applied across the board or not. Sounds like its not....I agree they will likely have to change that

At the end of the day it will be a carbon copy of what we already have on the PGAT. They need the 72 hole format, a cut of some type, and relegation/pathway. Billions of dollars to get back to square one.

So with 72 holes they'll have even more golf that people won't watch. Genius!

If they're revenue generators (and I assume DJ and Phil are), they'll get invited through some type of "sponsor exemption."

My guess, anyway. They'll find a way to keep certain names in tournaments.

-LIV will expand number of tournaments on Asian tour
-LIV tournaments will be like elevated events
-Ironheads getting new players and likely a name change
-LIV likely moving to 17 events
-Asian tour purses will go up
-All this by 2027

LOL at them gradually becoming the PGAT as far as length of tournaments and the number of events the top guys were playing before

Great info here, from someone with better connections than the rest of us. Any feel for players leaving the tour this year besides the big South African? Time for Big Tony to take the bag? I could see them making another run at Cam Young, who I think was interested previously.

Haven't heard his name but he fits the bill. Super talented, bigger personality, not a grinder, not from US....

Wouldn't shock me

For the average golf fan, there is fatigue regarding LIV golf and any news related to it. LIV golf hasn't made any impact to the game of golf like it boasted under Greg Norman. The only thing that LIV golf has achieved is blowing through $5 billion plus over the past 3-4 years.
