Excited for 2026 golf….
Early summer 2024, had a career day and shot a 77 at Timber Creek, double exceptional round, resulting in personal low Handicap of 10.9….
Shortly after I couldn't seem to play well consistently, and the handicap starting ballooning again. Resulting in 2025 golf becoming a complete struggle! (15.8 as of this morning)
Mid December this year, a golf group of mine that played together most of 2021-2024 reunited for a couple rounds. A player watched me try to hit some balls prior to a round and commented how my takeaway looked rushed, forcing me inside, and I was rushing the downswing and he'd never seen me with that swing and said "slow down, take it outside a little and watch your swing come back to you." 3 swings later instant fix!! I've played 4 rounds since, and today shot my lowest round of 2025. I set out today to not get frustrated if things didn't click. When I found myself in trouble, I found the smart play to leave myself with a possibility to scramble avoiding the huge blowup holes.
Highlights from the day:
#8 - "Thin to Win" 180yd Par 3 front pin, wind blowing into us. Thinned a 4i and watched it roll up the front of the green to about 5-6" for a tap in birdie.
#9 - "Bombs away" popped a great drive up the right side of the fairway with a baby draw, found myself 210yds out on a par 5. 4i, pulled it a bit to the left leaving about 30yd chip just outside the far green side bunker. Good chip finished just above the hole to the right about 6 feet. Thankfully got to "go to school" from another player and made the birdie to finish 9 at a +3 39.
#12- 165 yd par 3, block it way right in to the lateral hazard. Hit 3 from the box just left of the green side bunker and proceeded to put a great flop shot inches from the hole. 1st double bogey of the day. But took joy from the well executed shot to stop the bleeding.
15 - chip in to save bogey, really felt like I stole one here after hitting 3wood through the fairway into the hazard and not hitting a great third shot following the drop.
#17 - 100yd par 3, 56* to 12ish feet left of the pin and drained it. For the 3rd birdie of the round.
TLDR; excited to feel like I have a golf swing again, and looking forward to a fun 2026 and hoping my swing comes along into the new year as well.
When's the next TexAgs outing?
