No, took a drop from boundary line where it crossed.

No. He ended up on the beach. Then hit it in the water and then took a penalty stroke to go back to where he crossed the line.

Went back to the boundary where his 2nd shot crossed the line. Which is probably what he should have done to begin with, but at -19 I understand hoping for a miracle, I guess

I thought he went straight back on the line from the flag from where his shot from the beach crossed the boundary.

I don't believe that shot from the beach over crossed the boundary. He went back from where shot two crossed the boundary.

Yep, his beach shot hit the rocks and got rejected back into the ocean.

Think of it this way, you hit a wayward shot that trickles into a hazard (say it's a pond) and your ball is on the bank partially submerged. You decide to go for the hero shot, it doesn't work, and just stays in the hazard as you learn hitting a partially submerged ball is a lot harder than it looks. You can always stop the bleeding by taking a penalty (plus whatever hacks in the hazard you took) and using where you first entered to apply the drop rule. This example was just an extreme version of that

Hadn't ever thought of it like this but I guess he was technically dropping straight back from where the ball last crossed the line of the hazard… it was just that the last time it crossed the line of the hazard was two shots ago.

So had he just dropped the first time he would have been in the "hazard" in 2, dropped for 3, on the green in 4 and made his putt for 5. But since he took that hack out of the hazard it just gives him a single extra stroke. That's definitely interesting- I've not encountered that before.
