It's not a major because it's not a major. It's one of the more ridiculous talking points every year and I think it's mostly driven by PGAT brass who just want their balls tickled. It's nonsensical. It's a top level tournament for sure and the Tour backs up the Brinks truck. But that's it.
There's also only so many times they can retell the story that Dye's wife suggested making the 17th an island green.

You can't be a major if your field is all from one tour. I'm not a LIV guy, not demanding the players there get a spot in the field, but if there is no way for the best Euro Tour, LIV or any other tour players to at least have a chance to qualify, you aren't a major.
As far as the tournament, I hope we see another Euro Ryder Cupper choke in a big individual event.

I like Aberg but selfishly don't want a Sunday snooze fest. Hope someone can mount a run. Final 3 holes can be awesome if it's close.

Totally agree. The golf Channel show with Chamblee is pretty much unwatchable, but Live from The Players every year is unbearable. Stop trying to make this tournament a major. It doesn't need to be no matter how bad they want it to. We've already got one major that doesn't move. Certainly dont need another that doesn't have 10% of the history of the Masters.
Wasn't there some stat about the last 10 54 hole leaders at this event not winning? Thought i heard something like that. Hoping for non snooze fest too.
I love this event early I'm the schedule too. Really gets the season going.
