BRYAN -- No. 3 Texas A&M women's golf team hosts the 22nd "Mo" Morial Invitational April 6-8 at Traditions Club with tee times for the Aggies beginning at 8:30 a.m. from No. 1 Monday.

Admission and parking are free to the public all three days. The Maroon & White are scheduled to host a watch party near the 18th green from 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday that will feature free food and drinks, along with exclusive Reveille golf shirts and other team giveaway items. Additionally, Reveille X will be in attendance as well as the Texas A&M Yell Leaders.

The tournament is named in honor of Aggie great Monica Welsh who tragically passed away in an automobile accident in 1992 and was a four-year letter winner for the Aggies from 1978-82. She was a two-time TAIAW All-State selection and set the then-record for low competitive round (68) in 1981 at the TAIAW State Championship. The Aggies have finished first an event-best eight times, including a tournament-record 38-stroke victory last season.

The Aggies are bringing a lineup featuring Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio, Vanessa Borovilos, Sky Sudberry, Louise Reau and Natalie Yen. If Texas A&M were to claim victory at the Mo, it would be the fifth team title of the season with five different lineups.

Fernandez Garcia-Poggio and Borovilos are fresh off playing at the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur where Borovilos finished tied for 11th in her ANWA debut. Also competing in the Mo are Aggies Brynn Kort, Mia Nixon, Kynadie Adams and Avery Zweig.

I noticed this morning that Avery, Mia, Kynadie and Brynn are playing as the Texas A&M (B) team instead of as individuals. I like it when this happens.

Good luck to both Aggie teams - Gig 'Em !!

Borovilos Leads Aggies in First Round of "Mo" Morial Invitational

BRYAN -- The No. 3 Texas A&M women's golf team found itself in a tie for second place Monday after the first round of the 22nd "Mo" Morial Invitational due to the efforts of Vanessa Borovilos who was the individual leader after 18 holes.

"We played a little better coming in but did not play the front nine very well," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "We weren't very sharp in the practice round so that probably carried over into today. Fortunately, there is way more golf to be played than has already been played. We will have opportunities tomorrow and our team is excited to get back out there."

The Aggies shot 14-over 302 and were one stroke back of Tulsa (+13) for the lead. The Maroon & White shot 9-over on the front nine as a team but turned in a cleaner 5-over on the back to inch closer to the top at the difficult Traditions Club.

Borovilos went 1-under 71 for the round just two days removed from tying for 11th at the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur. The sophomore was in the lead by one stroke and is seeking her second individual victory this season.

"Traditions is no joke, even though we play it every day you still need to keep your mind right out there," Borovilos said. "I think the greens were receptive today. We were all able to go at most of the pins, but it was nice playing on the home course."

Sky Sudberry held onto a share of 12th at 3-over 75 and Louise Reau was tied for 26th with a 5-over 77. Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio and Natalie Yen rounded out the lineup tied for 41st and 46th, respectively.

Mia Nixon, competing as an individual, took a piece of eighth place with her into Tuesday, scoring a 2-over 74. Avery Zweig in her first collegiate action and competing as an individual was tied for 17th at 4-over 76. Brynn Kort and Kynadie Adams rounded out the individuals tied for 47th and 55th, respectively.

The Texas A&M B team comprised of Nixon, Zweig, Kort and Adams was tied for ninth at 23-over 311.

The Aggies begin the second round at 10:10 a.m. from No. 1. Live stats can be found at:

We walked with Sky today and her score does not reflect her round. The golf gods were not kind to her today. An around the world lip out and a chip that hung over the hole went along with her 15 pars.

Pin locations were also not kind today and the wind made it a really tough to be anywhere closer than 15-20 feet for birdie putts that just didn't fall today. All the rain made it no roll out, but it also meant the false fronts weren't near as punishing for bad shots.

Louise and Cayetana went in the hole early scoring wise and never reall could climb back out.

Sudberry Paces Aggies on Day Two of "Mo" Morial Invitational

BRYAN -- The No. 3 Texas A&M women's golf team was one shot back of the lead after Tuesday's second round of the 22nd "Mo" Morial Invitational at Traditions Club after Sky Sudberry shot 1-under 71 to pace the Aggies.

"They were very much control of the round," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "They scored in our sport which is very efficient and they hit the ball very well and kept the round going. We're excited to go out and play for a title. I don't take it for granted that we can be in the final group on the final day. I think there is going to be a lot of people out here but we're just excited to go out and compete for something."

Texas A&M was 17-over 593 after 36 holes of play and just one stroke back of No. 24 Baylor (+16) for the lead. The field tees off at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning with a shotgun start with the Aggies beginning on holes 1-3.

The Aggies are set to host their watch party at the 18th green Wednesday from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Admission and parking are free. The event will feature free food and drinks, along with exclusive Reveille golf shirts and other team giveaway items. Additionally, Reveille X will be in attendance as well as the Texas A&M Yell Leaders.

Sudberry turned in a phenomenal under-par round that was highlighted by a 33 on the back nine. The Woodlands, Texas, native holed birdies on Nos. 12, 13 and 16 on the back to get a stroke back for the team. The junior was in solo fourth to pace the team on the individual leaderboard.

"We are trying to have a great time out here," Sudberry said. "We love having the support from our donors and our fans so tomorrow we just want to have a big smile on our face. This is a golf course we know well and just let our natural ability takeover."

Louise Reau and Cayetana Fernndez Garca-Poggio both turned in even-par rounds to secure shares of eighth and 16th, respectively. Vanessa Borovilos fired a 5-over 77 but still held onto a piece of fifth going into Wednesday's final round.

Natalie Yen rounded out the lineup tied for 41st. The Maroon & White saw its second unit in eighth at 42-over 618 with Brynn Kort and Mia Nixon leading the charge tied for 21st. Kynadie Adams and Avery Zweig were in lockstep for 45th.

Having talked with several members of the team, I know that they would like a rowdy crowd in attendance. Good sportsmanship, but sans the whisper quiet golf etiquette. Loud cheering, bubbles would be great (Ala baseball scoring)

Weather has been great, and the course around the 18th green is a great set-up for fandom.

Hope folks can make it. Gig 'em.

Poor Vanessa has to be purely running of fumes at this point. Props to her for wanting to immediately get on a plane to fly back and play with the team after a full week of Augusta.

No. 3 Aggies Win "Mo" Morial Invitational for Record Ninth Time

BRYAN -- The No. 3 Texas A&M women's golf team won the 22nd "Mo" Morial Invitational by three shots after starting the day behind No. 24 Baylor Wednesday at Traditions Club.

The victory was the fifth for the Aggies for the season, which is now tied for the most in a single season in program history which was set during the 2022-23 campaign. Texas A&M has used five different starting lineups in all five tournament titles this year.

The Maroon & White found itself down to the Baylor Bears for the third time this season heading into the final round. Baylor held a one stroke lead but shot an 8-over 296 to Texas A&M's 4-over 292 that gave the Aggies the win. The team went 21-over 885 for the tournament to claim a record ninth "Mo" Morial title.

Vanessa Borovilos led the way, earning a runner-up finish after shooting 3-over 219 at the Mo. The sophomore is coming off playing at the Augusta National Women's Amateur this past week that led straight into the Mo. ULM's Johanna Sjursen won the individual crown with a 1-over 217. Borovilos shared the runner-up honors with Baylor's Bridget Boczar and Charlotte's Jette Schulze.

Sky Sudberry finished tied for eighth at 6-over 222, which was her second-best performance of the year. Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio came in solo 11th after firing a 1-over 73. The Spaniard has finished in the top 12 of every tournament this year.

Louise Reau and Natalie Yen both secured a share of 23rd at 11-over 227 to round out the Aggie lineup. Texas A&M's second unit finished 11th with Mia Nixon and Brynn Kort leading the way tied for 16th. The pair turned in 54-hole scores of 10-over 226. Kynadie Adams and Avery Zweig finished in 52nd and tied for 61st, respectively.

The Aggies return to the course April 17-21 for the SEC Championships in Belleair, Florida, at Pelican Golf Club.
