My sister has connections and is getting me and a buddy on Fields Ranch East for no cost next month. Just have to pay the caddie fee. Yay, sister!

We're looking for another course to play one other day. Midweek. We're not crazy about the public green fee on the West course and are looking for some other options. Don't mind driving 30 - 45 minutes.

I've played Frisco Lakes, Trails of Frisco and The Tribute in the area. Old American looks like a good option, but can only make tee times 5 days ahead of time and it looks like they go pretty fast.

What other course(s) should we be looking at?

Ask your sister if she can call Preston Trail GC and get y'all on? Who knows? I would at least try

I'm trying to play all of the courses in DFW and have rated all of the ones I have played. Maybe this can help you find some good options!

Could try WestRidge Golf Course in McKinney. Or the Bridges up in Gunter

Love a westy run. Play there a couple hundred times a year. Course is in great shape at the moment, and just got new carts!

30-45 Minutes from Frisco?
Here's your list - minus the Frisco courses:

Westridge - 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s, 6 par 5s
Ridgeview Ranch
Twin Creeks
Water's Creek
Pecan Hollow
Oak Hollow
Sherrill Park
Firewheel
Indian Creek
Bridlewood
The Bridges Gunter
Bear Creek
Old American
Coyote Ridge
Texas Rangers(right at your 45 minute limit)
Stevens Park(right at 45)
Cedar Crest(45 min)
Tenison Park - Highlands(40 min)
Irving Golf Club
Woodbridge
Tour 18
Grapevine Muny (forgot the first time)
Cowboys

I might have forgotten 1 or 2

My order would be:

Old American - kind of difficult to know where to hit it your first time
Cowboys(but if you don't like the cost of Fields West, you won't like it)
Bear Creek - West over East
Texas Rangers
Fire Wheel Bridges - the old course has been renovated, but I haven't played it
Grapevine Muny (left off on the first pass) - 27 holes
Cedar Crest - good golf course, bad area
Stevens - fun, crowded
Tenison - generally crowded
Sherril Park - I think #1 has been renovated(but maybe it is #2)
Bridlewood - don't know what the conditions are like
The Bridges
Water's Creek (haven't played since renovation)
Twin Creeks - fun layout
Tour 18 - conditions have been questionable

Very solid list.

I long avoided Tour 18 due to the horrid conditions, but they have really tuned it around. It is a very solid course again.

Stevens is a really cool layout, the only downside is that it is extremely short.

Cool website. You really need to go out and play Grapevine. Thats a top 5 public course in DFW in my book

Thanks guys. Good info. I know a lot of courses in other areas around the state but just haven't played as much in the DFW area.

Don't waste your time with Watters Creek. Played it a couple weeks ago and it is just OK. Greens were in rough shape.

The Bridges in Gunter is my favorite. Decide if it's too far for you though. Really interesting layout but can be brutal in the wind.

I've actually never played there. Been meaning to for awhile
