How may players will be tied at the end of tomorrow to force a playoff? I'm setting the line at 3.5

Smalley was rough early but rallied back nicely. 18 is taking its pound of flesh from some of these dudes

I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this.

3-man playoff is the most they've ever had and that hasn't happened since 2004. It would be really cool to break that record. Tomorrow should be a great day for fans.

That course looks brutal.

The pressure will get some these guys early. Tomorrow will be epic.

Laying back from those bunkers on 18 seems to be the move. Not sure why more aren't doing that

Playoff in a major is possibly my favorite thing in sports.

I bet they make the pins easier and someone will shoot 63 or 64 and win it out right.

Seems unlikely to me that Smalley is going to run away with this. I think we're in for a great Sunday.

Alex Smalley is in unfamiliar territory. The PGA Championship 54-hole leader is looking to win a major as his first PGA Tour win. Two shots clear of the field, Smalley is the 10th player since 1995 to hold an outright lead heading into the final round of a major without a tour win (for what it's worth, he has never held a 54-hole lead in a tour event, either). The track record for the nine other players in that position? Not promising. Only one, Louis Oosthuizen in the 2010 Open Championship, went on to win on Sunday.

Yeah those numbers don't bode well for Smalley.

Oosty started the day with one guy within four shots of him. Smalley started the day with 22 guys within four shots.

Will be a hell of a thing if he can pull it off.

Looks like the set-up is allowing for a low one today… Kitiyama at -6 thru 17. 63-64 is out there… which brings more guys into it.

I cannot remember a major where so many guys very much within striking distance were teeing off 2-3+ hours before the leader. Should be a fun final round

Just walked through Grand Central Station in Manhattan and they just had the US Open trophy randomly hanging out in there.

Boo…was hoping for some gusty conditions

I'm really liking this tournament setup. Feels a little bit like a US Open but not quite as extreme

He needs a lot more work with his coach on green reading

I agree, it looks like he was missing the reads. Not a bad putting stroke, just starting it on the wrong line.
