I think it's even crazier than that. A&m hosts tournaments for our teams at Traditions. The teams love when spectators come. Especially kids.

We got up early and drove up from Houston to take my middle school daughter to the Momorial this year. She followed sky all 18 holes and had a blast.

Daughter "Hey dad, can we stop at the pro shop and get an Aggie Women's golf hat. Maybe the team will sign it before we go. Maybe get A bedazzled ball marker like they were using would be cool".

Me : Absolutely

We walk in and not a single team item for sale according to the club staff. Just Traditions club stuff. So we ask the coaches if they have a merch stand. Nope.

My daughter was beyond disappointed. She doesn't get it. Every other golf tournament we've gone to, this is pretty standard.

The team was kind enough to talk with her and take photos, but this approach makes absolutely zero marketing sense.

They don't need cases of merch, but from a marketing perspective alone a single hat, t-shirt, golf towel, and ball marker option for each team for fans to buy (Especially kids) should be a no brainer at tournaments they host. Even if they don't make money.

Kind of odd.

I think our 3a high school booster club does a better job with merchandise than A&M.

if only there was a distinguished business school nearby or perhaps an alumnus who was really good at marketing, that could help the university with these type decisions
