Naples National or GTFO!


Naples is my least favorite trip b/c everything seems to be private. I've played Tiburon and Old Corkscrew - both were great, but 500 dollars per round.

Hosted 30 guys on a work golf outing at Tiburon that turned into a complete wash out after 3-5 holes, depending on when you teed.

The guys pissed me off so bad that when they called me back to beg my business I told them that I would quit golf before I ever played out there again!

I may still be mad about it....

What did they do that pissed you off?

they dont give you rain checks. I have had that happen before, but i was hosting 2 clients ... not 15

Sorry...got busy and forgot to answer here...

Now remember...I have paid for 30 guys from all over the country...bought lunches and beer for everyone....set up for pro shop credit for prizes, CTP's, places, everything....I don't recall exactly how much I spent, but it was a lot...

SO, they pull us off the course in a DRIVING storm....remember....we had played 3-5 holes....You can see that it is one of those Florida storms that isn't stopping and is literally flooding the course. There is no chance to resume...everyone agrees on that.

So I get the Asst Pro who I have been working with on everything and we start to assess....first he looks at me like "damn...tough luck today.." and sees quickly that isn't going to fly with me, so he goes to get the Head Pro....He leads off with...yep...tough deal....at which point, I decide to speak up....he offers to give everyone a 9 hole rain check....I remind him that these guys are from all over the country and that doesn't work....realize also, I have already paid for everything....

I tell him, the solution is to offer all the guys a pro shop credit equivalent to the 9 hole rain check amount....they spend it all in the shop buying 2X markup stuff...likely they all spend well more than the credit amounts and the pro shop has a banner day....seems like the perfect answer....he gets to sell a bunch of stuff, I get some value for the fortune I have paid him and the guys get some silver lining from a truly ****ty day....

The pro wouldn't even consider it.... then the fatal mistake....

He looks me right in the eyes...tells me to have a good day and retreats into his office....the asst pro comes over, hands me 30 rain checks and walks away....

I'm surprised I didn't get arrested....

PS...Now you guys got me all worked up about it again!

Geez I would have been livid.

I was well left of livid. Thats why I told them I would quit the game before I ever came back

I haven't played much in Florida but been rained on or rained out most of the time.
