We bought into the Dyson hype 10 years ago and finally wore ours out. What are decent ones to go with?

Requirements:

Has to deal with pet hair.
Has to have detachable arm where the hose doesn't fight you (main reason we hated the dyson)

Have a Miele vacuum (canister)for 10+ yrs and haven't had any problems. Call Evan's vacuum in Fort Worth and ask their repair tech what their favorite/least repaired vacuum is.

It lasted for sure and did fine on just vacuuming the carpet. The attachments were garbage from the start. Difficult to use.

My biggest issue with the Dyson is the batteries. Have had horrible luck.

Our 3 year old Dyson will only work for about 3 minutes before the battery is dead on the middle setting. On boost it lasts about 30 seconds.

Agreed with the other poster, a lot has changed in 10 years. Can tell a nice difference between what I used to roll around and what we use now.

When the dyson battery runs out, you can find adapters on amazon that let you use your preferred power tool battery. My dyson handheld now runs on a DeWalt 20v battery.

We've had two dysons. Both have eventually stopped working.

We had an entry V6 cordless that wasn't able to charge the battery. So we got a replacement sent to us and it also died. I think it lasted maybe 5 years.

We had a DC24 before that which had a motor malfunction maybe 6-8 years.

We've seen gone to shark, but I really want cordless style like our V6.

The first one you linked from amazon is the same exact one I currently own. I had a cheaper Shark that did ok, but after we got our dog a couple of years ago, it just didn't do very well with pet hair. The newer one is excellent! It's more than I ever intended to spend on a vacuum (I paid closer to full price), but I would definitely buy it again.

I detest "feature fluff" in products. I like a good, basic product that does its job excellent and is bulletproof. So I bought a Henry canister vac and love it. I use a WesselWerk RD285 head on it for hardwood floors and it sucks up hair balls and such without having to lift the head. I have all tile flooring.

Wound up getting the Shark AZ2002 posted above on the Amazon deals. This thing would suck the chrome off a bumper compared to my old Dyson.

I have a Sebo Airbelt Turbo. It is smaller because we have mostly hardwood floors so the roller bar attachment is not as intense as the higher grades.

So far i love it!

Rainbow vacuums are unparalleled IMHO. Expensive at the start but I'm using a 25 yo model and it works great.
