Howdy,
I put a small Moroccan blue palm in at the recommendation of my nursery. It's supposed to be more cold tolerant than others. We also put in a Mexican fan palm. The base of the palm is almost like a bush with so much growth. Any recommendations on how to prune this palm ?

Around here in Aggieland, only the dead ones that drop off get attention since they are the solar panels to grow plant as fast as possible.

When the Feb freeze killed 80% ???? of the local Mex.Palms, my 25yo was 36ft tall, healthy and would have made big problems for any power lines near/above. FYI since your photo showed some in background that I assume are out of the way.

There's special palm "foods" to shop via ratings to help get squatty palms to grow UP and not so squatty.

Do you have a local radio garden show that would accept photos and give free pro advice more than this forum?

this looks like my sago palms in my backyard. They sprout little "baby" palms that I have to dig up every year or so. You probably want to cut back and dig up all the little 'baby' palms at the base first. Then you can just trim the top part, from the bottom first, since the new growth comes out of the middle/top.

This variety is more similar to the Mexican fan palms from my understanding and averages 8-10 foot with multiple branches. I'm just not sure how to start pruning this one up into multiple arms.
