Curious what is happening here, looks like it's been leaking where the Expansion tank is connected. It's in the garage in a closet. I have another water heater in the house with the same expansion tank and it looks fine. Water Heater is working fine, has anyone seen this happen?

Yeah. It happens. Threaded fittings leak sometimes. Wouldn't read too much into it.

In that last picture, it appears there's a gap where your exhaust pipe meets the top of water heater. Check that connection ASAP...carbon monoxide
