Just bought a house that has natural gas and wonder if there are any plug/battery detectors people recommend?

Also where should I put them? Bedroom/kitchen/attic?

Any info would be greatly appreciated for this first time home owner

You will smell natural gas if it is leaking in the house. Get a few good CO/Smoke detectors and you are fine.

I have the stupidly expensive Nest Protect CO/Smoke detectors. Really like that they automatically test themselves regularly and will send you a push notification if something goes off as well as ringing.

Natural Gas rises, so if you want a NG detector, I would just put it in the attic on the side of the house that it is used.
