Reel broadband has finally made it to my neighborhood to install fiber cable.

1) they left huge ruts in my lawn & didnt fix them
2) they cut a sprinkler line & didnt fix it
3) the box is in my lawn & not in the easement
4) nobody speaks or is willing to speak english

pisses me off

If you're 100% sure the line is in your yard and not the easement, cut it. When they come to make the repair, tell them the need to fix your sprinklers first and then move the line to the proper location. Make repeated cuts to "your" fiber optic line until they restore everything they damaged.

I had ATT install it in our yard. They caused a 10" wide hump all the way along our back yard. I called ATT and the first contractor that installed it said that it was normal because there was a line under my yard now lol. I kept calling and a new guy came out and fixed the line and asked what I wanted to never call again. He resoded my entire back yard. Nice guy.

Spanish speaking neighbor talked to them. Apparently the gas lines are in the easement not leaving room for the fiber, hence them backing it up to the yard. She also made them aware of the sprinkler pipe and they've said they'll fix it. I guess we'll see.

Dont think that is how easements work. They cant just take your property outside of it to make their job easier. It might be time to get a lawyer involved for compensation and removal/relocation of cable.

I can't find easement data on the city website. Would I be correct to assume the easement is the space between the curb and sidewalk? I walked a few blocks and found only one other box that was on the other side of the sidewalk.

Look at your survey.

This. It will call out the exact easements. For front yards with a sidewalk, that is usually the easement but not always.

Going through my Deed files & It seems I didn't get a survey when we bought. But the bossman just happened to drive by so I flagged him down. He said the easement is 2 ft back from the sidewalk. So I guess I'm out of luck. Not a huge deal, but annoying to be the only damn house with it on this side of the sidewalk.

At least he confirmed they would fix sprinklers and ruts

County should have a copy of your survey. Its alway good to have. I wouldn't trust their word tbh.

Good thing you didn't take this advice.

He did say if I was 100% sure, so it would have been on me

Every one of my street's utilities runs through a 4 ft easement in our yards. I've got a transformer, above ground cable box, above ground legacy phone pedestal, under ground electrical vault, under ground fiber interconnect box, and an under ground fiber vault in varying spaces across my front yard. Moral of the story, it could be worse.

Then the title company relied on the seller's existing survey. Ask the title company for a copy.
