I have moss on my roof. Would either of these products I have already work well to kill the moss?

Why, will it do damage to the shingles?

Wait….

How old is your roof and what brand is it? Depending on age and who installed it, it might be covered under the warranty.

Your listed options might kill the fungus but it won't remove it. So….it will just die. Mosses might require physical removal and scrubbing, which, as you can imagine, may be hard on your shingles.

Just fyi, algae and fungus isn't all that uncommon on older shingles or those that are in wet areas, shade, under trees, etc. Most modern shingles have warranties against algaes which is what you see with black streaks and such. That's why I'm asking about age, brand, and the installer.

I would think some TSP (tri sodium phosphate) would do well for this. It is basically a super strength detergent. I use it on the green moldy things.

Apply with a stiff brush and wash off with a water hose. If you re-apply after cleaning - it will stay in the pores of the shingles and ****** any regrowth for a while.

ETA: The stiff brush is used to "apply" the mixture, not scrub - sorry for the confusion.

Also, i guess you can't use the word (reetard) in it's correct form in any place. Thanks, political correctness bullsheet.

Yes, but will it remove it? It may kill it. Read Jason's post above.

Hopefully the stuff brush will not damage the shingles

***The official word from one of the top manufacturers***

Ok, for everyone that is curious, Hullaballoo hit the mark with his comment. I've not used it on roofs and manufacturers get funny about things like this, so…..

I have a good relationship with my rep and he's always been around to get my customers helped and me helped out with solving problems. I reached out about this and TSP. TSP will work and Certainteed is cool with it. They don't advertise it because most people go nuts with pressure washers.

Here is the official resolution and tech info on it. Don't use high pressure. Take your time.

This should take care of it.

I figure once it's dead, it will come off on its own. Dried out moss is pretty fragile
