Getting a new induction stove. The manual has instructions for both 4 and 3-prong connections. They list the 4 prong as preferred. Should I try and upgrade the outlet or just role with the 3 prong?

If there's only a 3 prong there now, you can't just upgrade the outlet. You'd have to pull a separate ground wire from the panel.

I vote just roll with three. Not sure what year 4 prong started becoming what was installed in newer homes, but I'd just stick with three.

Yeah with upgrading the plug I meant running an additional conductor, not just swapping the outlet.

I'd stick with 3. I'm not sure 4 adds that much safety, especially for the cost. Just make sure you jumper the ground and neutral at the appliance like the instructions say.
