Robot Lawnmowers?

Howdy, Ags.

I've got Palisades Zoysia in the backyard, and it's coming in well. My mower broke, and I'm seriously considering a robot lawnmower almost exclusively because I could run it daily and keep it short. It's been growing too quickly for me to properly maintain it myself, and it should benefit from the daily micro-cutting.

I've looked into the Husqvarna 415X and 115H mowers as they appear to be all I really need. The backyard is maybe 50' x 50' of flat Palisades, and what's better is I have a border boundary around the grass, which would make the wire installation pretty easy.

Anybody have any history with either? Or another brand?

I looked into doing this, but until we get our new yard established, I'll be using a zero turn. After watching a ton of reviews, reading specs, etc, this is what I had decided on.

no perimeter wire, AWD, great climbing ability, very adjustable. If you have a normal residential lawn you could definitely use one of their smaller models.

For that size yard they are great.

I bought a eufy before summer, and love it. My yard is on the larger end of what their bigger model can handle, but have it divided into zones, where each part gets mowed every other day. It uses a camera, so no wires or repeater, but only runs in daylight hours.
I'd gotten a quote for a Husqvarna model, and the cost was more than I could stomach, but it was one with the repeater tower (whatever that's called).

This looks like a great option. Buried in the page it says not recommended for use on dense zoysia or St. Augustine. What type of grass do you have?

I got the segway navimow i105 in July. Its been great. I have St. Augustine grass, not sure if it can or cannot mow zoysia. Its set up in my backyard and I have it scheduled to mow everyday for 1.5 hours. I have a smaller backyard (bigger than the OP's)so its able to cut about half my yard everyday. I still push mow the front yard mainly because of roots from an sycamore tree and fear of it getting stolen. There is an aditional option that puts a GPS tracker on it, but just dont want to mess with all that yet. Ive been really impressed so far. I might could back off on mowing a bit, but its doing great.

Good to hear. Segway is also on the list. Any potential pitfalls to look out for, or predominately worth it?

I have a Segway X315 after doing tons of research. Mowed this season pretty well after getting better at mapping the yard. The trick I've learned is to put the GPS antenna in the attic for maximum satellite reception (on top would be better). Segway's website hints it will announce a new model for 2026, which looks like an 4-wheel AWD for rougher terrains.

Username checks out?

Appreciate the feedback. My lawn is very flat, so this year's model seems to be worth considering.

Zoysia. Haven't had any issues with it (and hadn't seen the recommendation to avoid it)

Neighbor has one. They're neat but the lawn doesn't look great. Best way I can describe is a messy haircut.

I was considering a Kress. Anyone familiar or have experience with Kress?
