Any recommendations for a foundation engineer? Looking for independence.

Allow me to give you some searching help, although the engineer group does not make it as EZ as the architect/landscape/interior.designer group does. Let us know how it all turned out and if there's a better way to search, as this problem surfaces annually here.
STRUCTURAL is important in your engineer search and individuals might give better personal services.

BBB

PE ROSTER SEARCH
https://pels.texas.gov/roster/pesearch.html?ver=V062723
Searching Active & Structural gives over 2000 results with NO LOCATION = useless
Use Roster Download: link then see if your speadsheet can locate what you need

GOOGLE
Has been used but may not segregate the needed Structural from the others

ARCHITECTS/ENGINEERS
That you may know and specialize in the bulding type in question, e.g. residential, commercial, other can refer you .... eventually.
Gotta draw since me got no grammar

Not sure on reach, but I imagine they do work out there. We used Paragon Structural Engineers for our custom build. They're out of Plano.

For geotechnical we had great luck with David Hooper from Hooper Group. He's an Aggie.

Both a little on the expensive side, but I didn't want to skimp here. Both had some idiosyncrasies, but were good to work with because they were anal about the foundation being done correctly.
