Trying to make our gas fireplace look good. Moved into this house a few years ago and hadn't used it. Want to do gas logs, rocks, etc but holy crap was not expecting $1,200 from a company to add that stuff….

Was curious what experience anyone here has with installing these things themselves…and again I'm just talking about the log(s), rocks, rack, and anything else I might be missing. Gas fixture in fireplace is good.

At our last house we added a cheap set from Wayfair and it actually turned out a lot better than I expected. Came with everything needed.

The house we bought two years ago has the expensive logs. I'll just say it looks and feels way better than I expected. I thought I'd take them out for wood, but have been happy with it.

One thing that I think helps a lot is the rock wool or whatever it's called.
