Woke up a couple nights ago and saw that the dishwasher was clogged and had some water out in front of it. I quickly dried it up, but didn't think it was much to really worry about.

Tonight, trying to get the dishwasher unclogged (which has happened before) and then I noticed some of the wooden floor pieces starting to buckle/curve upwards along the edges.

Is there anything I should be doing in the here and now?

I would get a dehumidifier & fans on the area asap. That should pull the moisture out of the wood and subfloor. The boards may flatten out and show minimal issue after they are completely dry.

I can run a fan overnight for sure and let it run all day tomorrow while I'm at work. Is there a point that I would know if I got all the water out? There was a little water coming out of the seams a day ago but it's not happening now.

I don't have a dehumidifier but I can get one.

Why is your dishwasher getting clogged

The easiest way to unclog your dishwasher is to take the discharge hose off put in 5 gallon bucket and run dishwasher thru a few cycles

Also if getting clogged check pipe from disposal to sink drain. I personally think it is a crappy design I understand the design but leaves very little room for error if you put to much food in disposal at one time

Fix the clog and dry the floor out like others said. You likely have a 50/50 chance the floor returns to its original flatness.

What type of floor is it? You said hardwood, but engineered or solid wood, prefinished or finished on site (that determines what type of finish is likely on it), species of wood, color? This will help with a strategy if you still have some issues after it dries. And a picture or two if possible?

Good luck.

I took the hose off the garbage disposal and put it in a 5 gallon bucket. Ran a rinse cycle to see if any water came into the bucket and nothing went through so I assume it's got to be clogged somewhere in the hose or drain pump in the dishwasher.

As far as type of wood, I'd say it your standard oak floors. Not sure about install procedures or stain. Can't post a pic right now

Does your dishwasher vent down at floor level? Our kitchen aid has a blower than runs once the cycle finishes and blows hot humid air out low for hours after...Not sure what that would do to wooden floors in the kitchen.

I'm fairly confident that I was able to dislodge whatever was in there. I vaccuumed the hose and then blew it out with my air compressor and was finally able to run a successful rinse cycle.

I'm running a full cycle now to see if it can go the distance, should know in 2.5 hours

Assuming the dishwasher issue is fixed, is it worth putting in an instance claim on the wood flooring?

My fear is it's a small area and it's not a structural issue. Plus I don't want my premium to go up over something like this. But am I being cheap?

Would love others opinions

Let's say the area does not return to its original flat. You'll have two options, one small, one...huge.

Someone who is really really good with sanding/finishing, will be able to plane and flatten the high spots, sand down the area, stain, and coat just the areas affected. Matching the color and sheen is critical so it doesn't look like a patch job. A day's work maybe and cost, well, a day's worth. But finding that person may be tough. And that would be the same for whether it is prefinished flooring or finished on site.

The other is to sand down the entire room and refinish completely. Moving the furniture out, noisy, messy, and several days of work. Maybe $10-ish per square foot?

How big is the damaged area?

The impacted area is probably 3'x10', so maybe 30 sqft in total

Thought I would add this...

Most dishwashers have a filter/screen to catch material solid material...most people are familiar enough to take those out and clean them.

Many dishwashers additionally have what amounts to a food processor in them to take large chunks and slice/dice them into small chunks that can be drained easier. Many times when the dishwasher isn't cycling fully, this component can be a prob.

Things can get trapped in it that it cannot cut...plastic, hair, broken glass etc. It can get stuck on those pieces then stop cutting the things it otherwise could have (food bits etc).

The blade assemblies are easy to change once you have access but access is usually a chore.

Anywho, maybe not related to OPs issue but FYI and take it for what it's worth.

At this point we've decided to just live with it. They've gone down some so hoping for more over the coming days/weeks

We had a dripping leak from the pump that resulted in water getting wicked into the hardwood floor and buckling 4-5 planks.

As others have suggested, we set up a box fan on high speed & a dehumidifier on continuous mode and let them run nonstop for several days. Reduced the buckling by 90+%. I can feel it ever so slightly because I know where it is, but no one else would ever notice.
