Howdy Ags, I am upgrading to a tankless hot water heater and seems like every plumber has their own preference of brand or pushes brands they might have incentives on. Does the board have any recommendations or have had ones for a long time without any issues?

Rinnai
Navien
Rheem
Noritz

Thanks

I have a Rinnai mounted on a north facing wall outside my house that has been there for 20 years. I flush it with vinegar about once a year and I have a water softener.

Going on 12 years with Navien 240, zero issues. Flush annually and use an inline descaler.

Absolutely any except Rheem. Nobody seems to know how to fix them.

I have a Rinnai that was installed in my house when we built it in 2009. Still going strong.

We put in a Navien 240 based on recs. It makes water hot.

Only downside is that there's a bypass valve to mix that seemingly gets easily clogged. It looks very easy to replace and is a cheap part (<$10). Their tech support isn't much help unless you're a plumber which is annoying. That's been my only issue with years of ownership.

Curious how much you are being quoted. I have a quote in hand to replace a 50 gallon traditional with a Rinnai RXP199iN at $6,000.

Where are you?

I bought a Rheem top of the line in 2018 for $1000 and had it installed for $1400 + removal of the 50 gallon. Those days are gone. Never had a single problem but flushed it myself once a year.

Fast forward to my current home where we had (2) 50-gallon removed, a Navien210 installed with a recirc pump for $5000, central Austin. That was not even a year ago.

Which plumber did the work? I'm in Round Rock and will need to replace my tanked units in a year or two.

ROD Plumbing. They've been reasonable so far compared to others.
