It is already invading my beds. Is it too early to use Sedgehammer? I've used it before but don't remember it showing up this early.

Pull it up religiously. I had it in my yard and pulled it up every time it tried to get going. It finally stopped after a couple months and I haven't seen it since.

Then that probably wasn't nutsedge. Pulling it makes it propagate faster. Don't pull nutsedge

It's in my beds. I sprayed it yesterday and will probably do another round on Friday.

I'ev found it takes a few repeated rounds like that. The treatment really only kills what's already above ground. More will keep coming up so those repeated treatments will help knockout the new growth and prevent the spread.

It was definitely nutsedge. Pulling it doesn't kill it right away and can help it propagate because of the carbohydrates and energy stored in the nut/root, but it will eventually die if you make it expend that energy trying to grow over and over again without replenishing. You have to be religious about pulling it as soon as it comes back up, but it can be done.

Huh. Learn something new every day I guess. I've always been told to never ever never under any circumstances pull nutsedge.
