Is there any reason to keep a regular door from the outside world? We have an attached garage and a door that we never use. I want to close it off and just hardy over it.

It's your house. Do what you want.

I would like a door like that in my house. I would like cross ventilation during the summer. I would also like access to the garage, without going thru the house, when we are in the backyard. Some people like them for pets. If the door is on the public side of the backyard access gate, I would not like it. I would probably consider moving the fence and gate forward so the door to the garage is behind the fence.

I have one of those doors. It's worthless. The garage opens to the back alley and is behind a gate though. I can walk around to the actual garage door if I need to get in. I haven't gotten around to closing it off but that's a great idea since I have already stacked stuff in front of it anyway.

Unfortunately in the way that it is placed it can't be behind my fence. Pretty worthless door the way we are set up. I just didn't know if there was some reason it needed to be there. It will be coming down next week.

Green light, all systems GO ... get 'em. Or just keep it locked for resale.
A fresh air daylighting window might be a replacement option if not a burglar temptation.

Always thought it ODD to be asked to design a person door akin to an OH garage door that has a wall button/or better that would let people & their garbage out.

However, most person doors are on a side wall that lead to house = makes sense.

Any other door that doesn't serve some purpose is a waste of good money, some R-value loss, promotes traffic over storage and invites strangers/thieves IN.

Guess was a spec.house genius designer "great idea" or previous owner SOP for need-unknown.

We use ours all the time. Thats how we take trash/recycling out to the bins.

I also use it to get in the garage from the back yard without going through the house, especially since we don't wear shoes in the house. Beer fridge is in the garage.
