what's your recommendation ?

Expensive but work great and can integrate as needed with home systems. Has both wired and non-wired versions. First Alert CO + Smoke detectors.

Kidde is another brand i have heard good things about but don't personally own. They do have some wireless integration ones too which i looked at before but stuck with my first alerts since the rest of my house has them.

We have a similar First Alert model throughout the house (SMCO100V-AC; smoke and CO combo), and we have had a terrible time with the alarms tripping for no apparent reason. It will announce smoke but there is none.

At first, I thought maybe I got a bad batch from Amazon, so I replaced them all with units ordered directly from First Alert. Still had false alarms.

We had an electrician check all the connections to see if maybe it was loose wiring or voltage issue, and he said he found some loose wires. Still had false alarms.

I think it may be related to our A/C registers blowing too directly at the units. Our single stage system is zoned, but setup is sub-optimal and air pressure is too high when unit runs only for upstairs. This is also related to higher humidity in house, which I believe could be a factor as well.

Anyone have experience or thoughts on addressing First Alert unit false alarms?

I use to have a lot of problems with first alert smoke alarms doing the same thing. I switched to Kidde and didn't have any more problems

It detects from both dust (acts like smoke) and temp changes from what I have seen. A direct vent on it can cause this. I aimed my vents away from them and have not had any more since i first bought the house and had that problem.
