I know we all hate insurance companies and they are often terrible to deal with. Thought it only fair to share a positive experience.

Selling a little house in Springfield, MO that we had purchased for my MIL in 2008, after she passed last Fall. Has been a trying experience when you group the passing and then dealing with all the things that go with clearing stuff and getting the house ready to sell.

The roof was original and was so worn, completely my fault for letting it get that bad and not asking here about hail over the years, that we could not even make an insurance claim on it. So we ate a new roof. Got that and the other updating done and got it listed. Got a contract in 12 days.

A day or two before the inspection they had a big storm blow through. Tennis ball sized hail. Had the inspection a day or so after and of course they call out hail damage.

"Lucky" for me I had interviewed several roofers already. Called the one I like the most, but had not used the first time. He said it was totaled. Made the claim with Farmers. Did take them a week to get the adjuster out, but they are pretty swamped. Roofer met him there for me, since I am in Dallas. Adjuster came back with all the roofer/contractor pointed out. Once the adjuster got his report out I was able to have the first payment in my bank in less than an hour through their system.

From filing the claim, to the adjuster and their system for payment of the loss money, it was an efficient and easy process. Contractor is even going above and beyond for me and got materials delivered today and bumping someone to get the work done so we only have to push closing by a week.
