I know this doesn't seem like news, but there is more-than-usual stand-still traffic on 1604....heading west, back-up starts just after Blanco and heading east, back-up starts at UTSA.

There is an accident clearing at the Vance Jackson exit adjacent to Valero and there is an accident on the access road of 1604 west just after the NW military exit that *just happened* - everyone and their dog is rubber necking hard, so the backup will be worse in a short time. Don't use the access road to try to get around it because it's blocked off.

Every time I try to ignore Waze, and presume that I know the fastest way, I end up stuck. Never ignore the Waze.

I use it even when I know where I'm going. There are live updates and your route will adjust based on current traffic conditions. I've found back roads I never knew existed and I've been able to avoid some major cluster-f ks. I happened to hit today's back-up right as it happened and got through it pretty quickly before it worsened.

This was all kinds of ****ed up today, waze or not. My usual 35 min drive home took 85 min. WTF was going on?

Ooof.

Took forever on Blanco to pick up my Capo's pizza. That was brutal and I live just down the road from there.

Think there was an accident or light issue at Blanco and Huebner. Blanco backed up all the way to Bitters and it didn't allow those to turn right off the access road onto Blanco. That caused the access road and 1604 Ramp to back up also. Total cluster last night all over the city.

Just started using Waze. Great app. Only complaint is that it talks to you when you are on the phone rather than muting like other map type apps.

Last week I was leaving a sales call at Austin Energy facility at the Children's hospital at 1600. I live near Bulverde so my regular app gave me choices of 290 or I-35, neither very good at that time of the day. Thought i had nothing to lose with Waze. It took me through neighborhoods and back streets but dumped me onto the toll road with nothing but some traffic lights. I was talking to my brother '74 in Alabama on the drive home, while Waze kept giving instructions in my ear. By now, i was on I-35 approaching San Marcos so shut off the app. About the time I hit north end of New Braunfels, the traffic came to a stop. I crawled until I was able to get off on 46 but the feeder was full with all the traffic exiting. Called the wife and she said there was a Mexican 18 wheeler gravel truck overturned at Loop 337. Had I left the app running (or hung up with my brother), Waze would have warned me and i would have gotten home 45 minutes sooner.

F4, if that happens again, just turn the app back on as you're sitting there in traffic - if there are side streets along the access roads, it'll help you navigate those to come out ahead....usually

My new motto is "trust in waze". Thanks to this thread.
