Family is looking at building a house in New Braunfels. I was curious if anyone has had any dealings with KB homes? We like the location of one of the neighborhoods but wanted to find out more information about them. Thanks for any advice and help.
About as cheap finishes as you can find. There is a reason they can build them so fast and so cheap. It really depends on the luck of what sub contractors did each part. That said, we lived in a Bella Vista home in Mockingbird Heights-probably comparable quality. The house served its purpose but we had no intention of living there more than a couple yrs. I wouldn't buy a 15 yr old KB, but get a new one with the warranty and realize you get what you pay for.
KB neighborhoods seem to go downhill quickly. They are typically the cheapest new home out there so they attract the type of people that might have a few old cars out front and don't really keep the homes up. It also seems like everyone parks on the street in those neighborhoods which makes it look bad.
I'm looking in same area. My agent recommended River Hills Custom Homes which may be worth looking into. I'll be meeting with them within the next week, so I may be able to send along more info in the future.

i would rather buy a 10 year old home from a higher quality builder than a new home from KB. Shopping KB leads me to believe your budget for a new build is fairly low. The older home may have a few cosmetic changes you would want to make versus being able to have it done exactly to your taste on new construction but the quality is sometimes lacking from certain track home builders.
Yeah. It's going to take a while for even the infrastructure to get started. Oak Run subdivision put a stop to them using their main parkway as s construction entrance. There will be many more battles like that ahead. I go to Oakwood Baptist which is that little chunk cut out at the bottom. Currently we are the edge of town, when it's finished that will be the middle.
