Any of you Ags have flat feet? What do you do about it? Any doctor in SA you can recommend?

The pain in my feet is getting worse and my hip, back, and neck are starting to hurt as well. I have been using the Dr Shoals supports you can buy at the HEBs but I wear them out within 3 months. I have thought about going to Good Feet, but I don't want to spend $500 on something and it not work.

Thanks.

No specific suggestion here, but you might want to cross post on the Health and Fitness forum. More traffic on that board.

Have you talked to an actual pediatrist? I'd start there. You may need orthotics. Probably won't be cheap but should be covered under insurance

I went to a podiatrist when I was younger but I haven't been in 20 years. My feet haven't bothered me until the past couple of years, and it has gotten worse over the past couple of months.

The podiatrist I was seeing wanted to perform surgery on me at the age of 12, before I stopped growing. My parents said no, he told them not to bring me back. I have been weary of podiatrist since then.

If someone could recommend a podiatrist or orthopedist is kinda what I was hopping for, but I would like to hear all suggestions.

My uncle has been to Goodfeet and had good luck with them, but when you read the reviews online, it gives one the impression they are a bunch of quacks.

I was just curious as to what other Ags with flat feet in SA have done or are doing.

Let me suggest Dr. James Miller

Christian Balldin is a great orthopedic doctor. I broke the hell out of my foot and he was great. I'm having another separate issue with my foot and refuse to see a podiatrist and will just go straight to him.

I like Roger Beal in the Methodist Plaza. I go to him and so does my mom. We are both very happy with him.

Get custom made hard stabilizing inserts. I got mine through my chiropractor in Bandera.

This may not apply to you, but my patellar tendinitis and flat feet-induced plantar fasciitis was greatly improved when I lost 25-30 pounds and started stretching my quads and hamstrings every day even when I wasn't exercising.

Flatter than flat since I was a little kid as it runs in our family. Tried orthotics somewhere about 11-12, but it just seemed to hurt more. Maybe it was because it was probably cheap plastic and technology from 30 years ago. Outside of seeing a foot doc, the best thing I've found is finding the right shoes. I wore Nike forever as a kid/teenager, because that's what you do. Hit college and wore cheap. Somewhere about 8-10 years ago i switched to New Balance. It seemed to be a little better.

One day I actually went into a NB store because Academy didn't have the style or color I was looking for. I asked the sales dude for a model ABC in XYZ color and size 10. He asked a bunch of questions about use, fit, activities, etc. I thought he was just blowing smoke and trying to upsell. He measured my foot, and asked if he could suggest something a little different. He brought out what I thought was the most God-awful short bus looking thing ever created. Only came in one style/color, and had this You-get-to-park-in-the-handicapped-spaces part at the instep. My first thought was aw hell naw!!! I reluctantly put this thing on and was amazed at the difference. He also recommend some inserts to go in the shoe. Yeah, here it comes, I thought. But damned if they didn't make a difference as well. I hopped around, walked a bit, etc. I even tried the new combo on one foot with my shoe on the other. Difference was night and day. I've worn the same shoe, or the newer version, ever since. I've even gotten the inserts to stick in my boots, and NB has a sister/nephew company called Durham that makes casual/sort of dress shoes. Worn those with success as well.

All that to say, have you tried different shoes? I don't have the ankle issues I used to after switching.

Brooks beast is the best for me. I had lateral column lengthening surgery on my right wheel. It's a common surgery for extremely collapsed flat footed active people.
