I graduated from Texas A&M 3 years ago (Class of 2013) and have been living in Houston and working in the Oil and Gas Sector. I've recently decided to go back to school to get a MS in Mechanical Engineering, which in taking me to San Antonio. I'm hoping to get some advice from other fellow Aggies on where there may be some good places to live (on a budget).

Ideally, I'd like to find some type of garage apartment or studio apartment owned by Aggies, but I know it could be a long shot. I realize it might be a little farfetched to find this type of setup, but it's worth seeing if anything like so is out there. I had a friend's dad find an Aggie Family (through TexAgs) here in Houston that had converted their garage into an apartment/studio which they were leasing out which is where the are now living. I am hoping to find something alike where I can be able to share with fellow Aggies and help out in any way I can.

I hope to be moving to San Antonio between late July and mid-August. Dates are flexible. Any suggestions, advice, contacts, and different opportunities would be very much appreciated. I'm fairly new to San Antonio so anything and everything helps.

Thanks and Gig Em!

Where are you working, and what side of town do you want to live?

Luckily, I'm able to work remotely for my job here in Houston so I'd like to live somewhat near:

I-10 and the 1604 Loop ,
or 281 and the 1604 Loop,
or maybe even near the medical center

Anywhere in those Northwestern and surrounding areas would be ideal but would be open to look into anything.

Thanks,

You're really not going to find a garage apartment in these areas as the homes are too new. The only exception I could think of would be Hollywood Park, which finding a rental in there I wouldn't count on.

There are no shortage of studio apartments on the NW and NC side of town though.

If you are looking for reasonable rent there was a fellow poster a couple weeks ago looking for a housemate. Think he was out of town Friday through Monday every week- or something like that.

Maybe someone can search for you.

Thanks

No, I said there were no shortage of studio apartments (as in apartment complexes) on the NW and NC side of town.

Garage apartments are going to be relegated to the inner core mostly. Alamo Heights, Olmos Park, Mahncke Park, Tobin Hill, and South Town (King William/Lavaca)
