Friend of mine has a riding mower he's needing to dump. Said it's not worth fixing. Looking for options for ditching the thing.

1. Out front with a sign that says free.
2. Three days later, replace the free sign with one that says "$50" and see if it gets stolen.
3. Leave it on a trailer "locked" someplace on the south side and hope it gets stolen.

What are the odds one of the repair shops would take it for parts?

I guess I could also just dump it in Alamo Ranch someplace and wait for the video to show up.

I'd call repair shops and see if they want it for parts. Or 4H/FFA orgs. They may want something to teach on

I have a couple of names of guys that will pick it up for free and haul it off to the recycler.
Text Bill at (210) 309-3392. If he doesn't respond let me know and I'll get the other guys contact info.

Could they just leave it out front for him?

The engine housing on most mowers is aluminum. Some folks will take it apart to sell the aluminum separately, and others will just haul the whole thing to the scrap yard (as posted above).

Yep I have left a dishwasher, fridge, microwave and God only knows what else-oh yea engine oil. And he tells me when he will be there and I just put it in my driveway that day.

Thieves are TV snobs nowadays, I left a working Mitsubishi 40" rear projection TV on my curb for 3 days and no one took it.

Place on the curb then post info on the CL Free page. Don't post your contact info. The mower will disappear.

A co-worker left an old TV on his curb. It did not work, but the tube was intact. It disappeared for a day and then returned with the tube broken. He was really pissed about that.

Posted our on our local Facebook garage sale site (best offer, stated what was wrong, and that they would have to pick it up) and we had a bidding war.
