(Yes, another relocation thread)

I have just accepted a position with a company in San Antonio and for the next few weeks I will be apartment hunting. My workplace is close to the intersection of 281 and 1604, and I would prefer to live relatively close to there (~10-15 mile radius)

I have already done a little research and have a list of a few complexes I plan on visiting, but I'm just wondering if SA Ags have any recommendations of places to look at/avoid. Looking at crime heat maps the whole area up there seems pretty quiet...

Most definitely! I was actually wondering, how do you watch the games? Living out of state I was able to see them via NHL TV, but the Stars are blocked out in Texas. I'm debating cutting the cord with cable unless FSSW shows the Stars (or do the Rangers/Spurs have priority there too?).

As he said they are actually shown in town. I have Uverse which has the Dallas, Houston, and SA area FSSW and I believe it has the FSSW+ channel as well. It was incredibly rare that I wasn't able to watch a game on tv last season.

Worst case, there is plenty of sports bars around town which might come in handy if we see the same level of goaltending as last season!

No worries at all - I was going to have to ask that question eventually; either on this board or on the Stars thread. When I lived in Austin I had UVerse and loved it, so I guess I will subscribe to it again. Gotta see my Stars!

I was gonna suggest we start a San Antonio Stars group but I think people would mistake us for being WNBA fans...

I'd be up for watching some games. Hard to find good hockey talk this far south.

My recommendation (budget dependent): find something in the Stone Oak/Sonterra area or something south of 1604 off 281. Some nice complexes near the Quarry, Pearl Brewery/Broadway areas.

I say the latter because during the morning and afternoon rush hours, 281 north of 1604 is a parking lot. Nothing but lights.

Lived at a complex between blanco and huebner on the north side access road of 1604. All that area is safe.

Sounds good to me. Let me get moved in and settled and we can definitely tall about doing something as the season gets closer.

My husband and I live at the Elysian at NoBu Station and LOVE IT! The floor plans are awesome, the management has been helpful (and consistent) for the two years that we have been here! They have food trucks come out once a week and recently started social gatherings (a wine club of some sort!). If you stop by let them know I sent you!

Elysian is actually my first or second choice! It is definitely on my list of stops. Who should I say recommended me?

I live in Stone Oak, several apartments in the area to choose from. Like all big cities you are going to run into some traffic but the area is really nice, easy access to 1604 and 281 and several Churches in the area if that's important to you.
