We want to add a cover to our back patio. Any recommendation on companies? We are thinking of doing it DIY but wanted to see what kind of quotes we could get.

It's a basic rectangular design and would be about 24' x 12'. Simple. Corrugated tin roof. 6x6 posts, 2x6 joists, etc. Something like this.

The corner has three roof lines that meet and not sure how to handle that. The roof line in front of the doors would be cut back to at least flush to the longer eave. Maybe it needs to go all the way back flush to the house.

cross posted on home improvement.

Fine Patio Design did ours. I don't have pictures available, but they added a 20x16 covered patio, concrete work, re-routed irrigation, masonry, tongue and groove roof, etc.

Wasn't cheapest quote, but wasn't the most expensive, and they had to deal with a tricky little roof section.

Photos of their work! Tried to post them in progressive order.

-Concrete
-Rerouted irrigation around concrete so I could instal garden bed around perimeter
-Framing (they found that the builder cut corners, literally, and the support beams for the porch actually strengthened the structure of the house
-Tied the roof in, including an attic vent that had to be moved
-Tongue in groove ceiling that they stained
-Masonry work for the bricks that had to be cut out for install and reinstalled after work was done
-All painting, finishes, etc.

They didn't sub out anything. Measurements are 20' x 16'.

All in this was a $25k addition.

that looks great - but also looks to be 100x more complex than what OP is wanting to do.

That does look great. Also a lot more than what we want to do.

We got a couple quotes for relatively simple 12 x 16 cover. one was $12,000 with all their discounts, the other was $9,000. So we are going to DIY it and use the roof risers to get some extra headroom.

My bad, didn't mean to imply it was the same project. I mostly wanted to jump in because of the roofline issue. I turned down probably 8 contractors/companies because none of them were confident or sure how they were going to handle it.

Fine Patio Design came in, and before I could even finish my thoughts about the roof/corner situation, the dude had pics pulled up of an almost identical project and explained the process and what to watch out for, even if I didn't use their bid. Nearly hired him on the spot.

The tongue and groove was obviously an upgrade, but several other parts of the project should be applicable.

Edit: Never mind on asking for price - I saw you said how much it cost. Confirmed for us the guy who came out was crazy.

We have a 30X10 concrete patio with a rotting pergola and some very random columns. It's western facing so needs to be extended to help with the sun and it needs a whole new cover - we want a full roof on it.

We had a landscape designer come out this week and he said $20,000 to do the concrete and $20,000 for the covering. That seemed realllllly high to me but what do I know? We hoped to hire him to draw up a cohesive plan for the backyard that we would implement in phases - hiring some out and DIY the other parts.. But then he just emailed us today and quoted $3,000 just for the blueprints. So I guess we are back to square one.

Nice work Obi Wan. Somebody did it right instead of half assed. That Big Ass Fan (or Big Ass Fan clone) does wonders for keeping the outside area pleasant and goes a long way towards keeping flying insects at bay. $25k ain't cheap, but when they do the job right it virtually eliminates long term problems, and for my money, the peace of mind knowing you won't have to go back and fix stuff they mess up is worth every penny.
Greater love hath no man than this....
