I am sure all have heard about the shooting of a mother and her 2 kids in Alamo Heights. One of the children has died. The mom works at the 24 HR. ER we go to in AH.

We want to donate to a GoFundMe account to help pay for her baby's funeral and for medical care and her loss of income. Does anyone know of a GoFundMe account that has already been set up?

If not, we will just go by that 24 HR. ER tomorrow and see if they are taking donations for her.

EDIT: Evidently I mis-heard the report on KSAT. The mother was not the nurse at that ER. It was the shooter. That explains why that ER is not making any comment, even when people call to help raise money for the mom and her kids. We are still looking for a GoFundMe account or a bank account at a local bank.

What kind of monster shoots his own baby? Just appalling.

There are people with mental health issues. And then there is evil. I'm going with evil in this case. And in my career as a District Attorney, I have seen both.

I have not heard of a GoFundMe at this point but I know that members of the PTA for Northwood elementary are helping assist the two children who escaped where they can. I will post any info if/when I hear about it.

Between some neighborhood friend connections and very close proximity to where they arrested the guy, this is hitting a little too close for me and my family. Did not know the family directly but incredibly sad situation.

We live a few blocks away on the other side of Eisenhauer. Terrible tragedy all the way around.

Lots of peculiarities with the story included the significant age disparity between the man and woman. Then we have NextDoor jackholes making comments about messy divorce and paternity lawsuits. The house on Haskin he fled to was his own residence. Apparently she was renting the house on Robinhood.

I wonder which house on Haskin? I used to live on Albin. I saw all the cops, ambulances and fire truck from my friends place the other night, what a tragedy.

Not everything is a mental health issue. I don't think we can reduce every violent act down to it being a mental illness. As you said, some people are evil. Also, some people just break laws - they rape, they murder, they embezzle.

Mental illness is not uncommon in our country - 21% have some form of it, and that's just the people who have been diagnosed. A lot of them need help managing it as treatment is expensive and resources are lacking.

We are doing a disservice to that community by constantly and immediately aligning them with heinous criminal acts.

ETA: Admittedly, don't know the facts about this case.
