Hubby's bday is this week and I was trying to think of good dinner options. He really loves good seafood. Anywhere y'all think is special in SA or surrounding area? I don't care if it's casual or more formal - just a place that makes it well!

Blackened Snapper at Fish City Grill-Rim was really good a few weeks ago. They have specials on chalkboard that rotate and not on regular menu.
If The Reel up in Spring branch, it has been excellent every time I have been. It is a sister restaurant to Macado's that was recommended above. Also a great choice but in new Braunfels.
Cappy's in Alamo Heights is pretty dang good.

The Reel has been gone for several years now.

The Reel reopened in New Braunfels in the shopping area corner of 337 and 46. Been multiple times, still very good.

As mentioned The Reel reopened in New Braunfels. Took my folks there for Mother's Day. The food was decent but they don't understand how reservations work. Both times I've been we've made reservations in advance and both times had to wait at least 20 minutes. Not sure I'll go back.

The head chef from when McAdoo's first opened left and started the Reel a long time ago but I don't know if he is still there or not. We ate there a month or two ago and it was pretty good but McAdoo's has a much better setting.
Ah must be a common misconception. I've heard it from multiple people.
I like Fish City - a smaller restaurant and doesn't seem as noisy as some. Bonus is they have several 2 top tables, so not as likely to have to wait for just 2 people.LCE said:

The people who own McAdoo's also own La Cosecha so that may be where the confusion is coming from.

Yessir. Went to McAdoo's a couple weeks ago. The catfish was good but was disappointed in the fried shrimp. Kind of tasteless. Don't believe they were Gulf shrimp.James Walker `02 said:

Fish City Grill-Rim. Arrived. Saturday around 6:45. 4-5 tables occupied. Ordered crawfish etoufee and grilled swordfish. Etoufee was bland and probably microwaved with Swordfish raw. Not going back
Oyster Bar and Bay Seas in the gas station have great cat fish. McAdoo's is a great restaurant. The Bloody Mary Bar at Sunday Brunch is cool.
Fish City Grill at the Rim. Saturday around 6:45 and place was almost empty. Crawfish Etouffee was bland and lukewarm. Grilled Swordfish was raw and cold.
Drinks were no better.
