And now an Agg. Robbery in that mall. Last month a murder. Crime in SA is really bad.

And in February I posted about an 80 year old man being carjacked just off Bitters Rd a block from where my 94 year old FIL lives. He was beaten with baseball bats. The 80 year old's funeral was today. He never recovered enough to come back home.

North Star Mall has been shady since the 90s

I am sad to hear that man passed. Horrible crime and tragedy. I consider that area my neighborhood. Yes things have gotten noticeably worse the last two years or so.

I haven't been to north star mall in many years but definitely would hesitate to go now and wouldn't want my kids to go. I grew up going there and wit was always very nice. Sad that it's been ruined by crime.

One of the local stations had a segment 3 weeks or so ago about a guy was followed as he left Tiffany's at La Cantera. What was really scary about that is he met family for dinner and was there about 2.5 hours.
These guys waited outside the restaurant that entire time then followed him home and robbed him of the Tiffany purchase as he was getting out of his vehicle.

Not long ago I made a rather expensive purchase at a mall jewelry shop in Houston. When I went in to pickup I took a game store bag in my pocket. I made the clerk put my purchase in it. I left store video game store bag. I wasn't walking in lot w a jewelry store bag.
Good Day.

That they waited that long means they had a pretty good idea what he had purchased and were willing to wait. He was surely not the only customer Tiffany's had that day, but they stalked a specific customer. Sounds like an inside job.

Probably was an inside job. Many of the bank "juggings" are inside jobs. I don't mean in SA but statewide.

That's why I carry around about a dozen Fred's Fish Fry bags in my car.

Wait, not a good idea. Likely drugs in those also.

Had a car stolen from there in 1992 and then my next vehicle was stolen from that movie theater off 10 and Callaghan 2 weeks after I bought it. 2 vehicles in 2 weeks.

No problems since then**knocks on wood**

We were at Northstar when the shooting happened that first Sunday in June. As a matter of fact, my nephew wanted to get his haircut at the same place the shooting happened not even five minutes prior. Something told me to go check to see if my wife and kids were done at build a bear instead so we didn't go. We were almost back at build a bear when we heard the screaming and running. Never heard gun shots.

I was messed up mentally that week. The whole experience was replaying in my head. The "what if" my nephew or I had been sitting in the chair next to the guy. I happened to be carrying that day. Would I have pulled out my gun trying to keep us safe and there could've been a shootout? Thankful for that little voice in my head that told me to go see if my wife was ready to check out and go home.

The other part of it was was "what if" we hadn't been coming down the ramp in front of build a bear when the commotion started and we weren't able to be with my wife and daughters during the evacuation? I felt guilty for leaving them alone.

Thankfully, I talked to someone about it and it helped me. But crazy world out there and all the more reason to carry.
