Has anyone had any issues or concerns around the Majestic Theater area? I moved into the area and I am dropping my wife and daughter off at a show there in October. Are there safety concerns? How is the parking? I saw a parking garage nearby and wanted to try Bohanan's, but not sure how comfortable I should be in the area given all of the stories I read about San Antonio now.

Just trying to see if people feel generally safe there or if cars are getting jacked a lot in that area. Pretty much any feedback on anything would be appreciated. Thanks.

If honey badger doesn't feel safe, I could be all wet. Seriously, welcome and I feel safe downtown in that area with my family, just stay on the beaten path. Drop off family first when parking or Valet at Majestic or nearby hotel or Uber if in question. Bohanans is solid selection, Ag owner.

Never had a bad experience at the Majestic. We used the Houston Street Parking garage multiple times when the Children's Museum was still on Houston Street. It is a little cramped, but I never felt unsafe there. Majestic is one of those prime places that city wants tourists to feel safe, so they put in the effort to keep the problems down. Hard to go wrong with Bohannon.

Best I can tell is that the car safety issues tend to happen around big shopping centers like North Star Mall, The Quarry, and La Cantera. Friend of mine had his vehicle broken into in broad daylight at Norris Conference Center.

Back in the early 90's, the owner of the company I worked for had 4 mezzanine seats at the Majestic center stage first row. He'd give tickets to employees when he and his family weren't going to use the seats. MZ R and I had just started dating at the time and Leo Kottke, a spanish guitarist and another guitarist I forget were performing 45 minute acts so I got two tickets from the boss and we went. I was driving a Firebird Formula 350 at the time. We pulled up under the porte cochere for valet parking and I gave the guy a $10 to park the car and we went in and were lead to our seats. The future Mz R was impressed with the front and center seats. It was a great show and when we walked out the front doors my Firebird was parked right there front and center. Mz R looked at me like "who the H are you?" We've been married going on 29 years.

On a side note one of the performers didn't show and Kottke did 2 shows. He put on a hell of a show and the house loved it.

Just chiming in to agree with the others. I'm a 50 year old woman and have had season tickets to the Broadway series with three also-oldish girlfriends. I feel pretty safe as long as don't park crazy far. Bohanon's is the best! Sounds like y'all have a fun evening to look forward to.

It's safe.
The Majestic is a cool venue.
If you ever find the opportunity to go to the Aztec, do it. That place is cool too.

Downtown San Antonio is probably the heaviest patrolled area in the state.

It's safe. We've been to a couple of productions both with kids and just my wife and I recently. Bohanons is solid. We've started Ubering down there simply because parking can be a headache and the garages near there are very tight.

Agree with everyone, it is safe. 57 year old female, we take my 80 year old MIL to shows and never feel unsafe.

Thanks, all. Great feedback and I feel a ton better about attending events there now. I've heard great things about the steakhouse and now I'll feel comfortable buying more tickets to shows. The girls love the broadway stuff so I hope to take them to Wicked and a few others.

The last time I was at the Majestic was when I was a little boy and my parents got Air Supply tickets. I had no idea who that band was. I barely remember it but I do recall liking the theater.

We park at the St Marys garage. I believe we pay $5. We have Wednesday night season tickets. We have never felt unsafe mostly because before & after there are many theatre patrons walking to the theatre/garage together.

We go to a couple shows per year. There's the occasional homeless but never had a problem. We park at St Mary's garage and walk through the Gunter lobby most of the time. Pops you right to the theater.

We eat at The Palm and valet the car there. We leave our leftovers at The Palm and pick them up while waiting for our car.

We go to the Majestic a few times a year and never have felt unsafe.

Agree with the group. We just did our anniversary dinner sitting at the bar at Bohanon's (valet), then walked down the street a bit. Wife wanted to go dancing so we took a pedal cab (waste of money but she wanted to do it) down to the Bonham and when we were done, we walked back to the valet area and got our car. Didn't realize they scanned you at the Bonham and had to stash my pocket knife outside, but collected it when we were done.

I use to work downtown and walk around quit a bit, never felt unsafe at all and usually enough people around that you are never isolated. Used the St Mary's garage plenty and as long as you don't have a big ass truck, it's usually pretty easy.

Have also done the same at the Palm.

That's pretty cool that Palm will hold your leftovers.

That was a while back, now we are old so it's usually an appetizer, a couple of salads and split an entree.

I will say the people watching at the Bonham was topnotch, we had not been there in a long, long time.

Majestic is a cool theater and the area is safe. It is one of the most touristy parts of the state.

Hell I saw the orchestra play Harry Potter there once so it was half kids.

That sounds like our dinner out, too.
