Decided to look up his bio for the first time last night and saw that he committed suicide. I had never known this. Does anyone have any info on his life post WWII? Maybe an early case of PTSD?

I have never heard this either. This article from Time magazine claims his suicide note states he feared insanity. I cant read the full blurb because I do not subscribe to Time.

It's not widely known that SSgt. William G. Harrell, one of the Aggie Medal of Honor recipients, died by his own hand in a murder suicide. Lots of demons haunt heroes as well as the not so famous warriors.

Gen. Moore was in poor health due to his imprisonment by the Japs .

Spoke at the Muster in 1946 in Hawaii !

I did a bunch of research on General Moore back when I was in school and living in Moore. I used to occasionally give brief talks to the kids in the dorm or anyone else that would want to listen to me.

IIRC (and its been a long time since I've looked at those notes), he never really recovered from those 4 1/2 years he spent in a POW camp. I think he was released in like September 45. He got out of the service in the summer of 49 I think. I seem to remember some speculation (or maybe it was only my own) that getting out of the army after 40+ years gave him more time with his demons from the war.

Sad story all around.
