My son, a high school junior, contacted a NROTC recruiter last week about submitting a NROTC package and they called back a day or two later and said they wanted the package complete and turned in within a weeks time. This includes the officer interview. We will have this completed but I was under the impression it didn't have to be in until August. Anyone know why they would rush this ? Or is it normal ?

August application deadline for the Fall 14 academic year? That sounds way early. When I was on recruiting duty we did applicant interviews for NROTC throughout the fall semester. The recruiter is trying to meet his quota for finding scholarship applicants and get them processed as quickly as possible.
