Ags,
It was a year ago today that I received the terrible news that LTC Roy Tisdale (D-2 Dog of '92) was killed by a deranged soldier in his unit right after had given the unit their 4th of July weekend safety brief. It was shocking and unbelievable. I can credit my wife, class of '89, and Roy for introducing me to what the Aggie Spirit is all about. I was his first sergeant in his first company command back in '02-'03. Being fellow Texans with similar backgrounds, we bonded like brothers. In '03 it was tough leaving the 509th at Fort Polk, knowing I was also moving away from a great Aggie and his family. The Army sent me to A & M to be an ROTC instructor and I eventually retired and became a CTO. I was so looking forward to the day when Roy would retire and move back to Texas on a permanent basis and we could pick back up where we left off. Well, like I said, it has been a year and I am still frustrated and saddend by the events of 28 June at Fort Bragg. The 4th of July is so important for our nation and I will always remember Roy Tisdale every Independence Day for the great American, Texan and family man that he was. So, when you celebrate Independence Day next week, raise one in honor of Roy...he would appreciate it...I would appreciate it...thanks Ags.
