C-Company and C-Battery could use some start-up money to purchase basic items needed here in the beginning. Make your donations to The Corps of Cadets Association and designate the donation for either unit. Thanks for any and all your support!

Like KTVU's report on Asiana pilot Sum Ting Wong, I'm guessing the OP didn't think about how redass the username FTABAGG was going to sound. Never underestimate the value of a space or an underscore.

So what will the funds be used for?

C-Company has three big needs/wants if we are to be competitive or successful:

1) Unit PT Gear
2) A BBQ Pit and Supplies
3) Outfit Training Equipment (Flashlights, water carriers, ropes, intramural equipment, whistles, stopwatches, etc)

Did the other outfits that were recently restarted have these requests?

My outfit borrowed a BBQ for several years before raising the money to buy one for ourselves. We also bought our own PT gear as fish. Corps Operations provided units with flash lights for road guarding every few years, so you could probably check in whatever lounge they're in now and see if they have any, or ask them for some. I think all fish are given a water bottle of some type during FOW. Just have them bring that with them during outfit PT, and have the upper classmen buy an ozarka bottle and carry it with them until you can hold a few fundraisers to by your own stuff.

I'm fairly certain the Corps will provide you with a few hundred dollars in start up money to get the basics you need to operate. While I'm not opposed to giving money to units when they ask for it, I want to know that it's going to a legit purpose and the cadets are working hard to raise money on their own. Don't just go asking for handouts.

Why work for your money if you can convince some Ol' Ags to give it to you for free?

I'd donate some money, but I just had to hand it over to a Nigerian prince. He's hooking me up with a sweet deal

I'm sorry but has the OP been to that one football game every year where the band gets a gargantuan check from old Ags?

They are being extremely generous and something you just have to work/save for.....BBQ PIT!

PUP,

the giant check cut from donations from ticket sales goes largely to covering travel costs.

IIRC, the amount is in the mid $100K each year and doesn't even come close to covering travel expenses.

That being said, I think it is bush league for these guys to shill for money especially for the laundry list of items posted in this thread.

I was c/o '98, and we never had a BBQ anything let alone a pit that would cook for an outfit full of cadets plus families.

Our PT gear was covered, along with suck straps, and a few other odds and ends, through our outfit dues at the beginning of the year.

Maybe the check was the wrong example to reference in this case.

But similar to your experience all our gear was paid for by outfit dues as well. We also worked between three and four Kyle Field clean ups per year in order to cover any other costs that we "wanted" but didn't deem as an absolute necessity to include in the outfit dues category.

The only reason we had a pit was because one of our old zips uncle had an old smoker pit he renovated and donated to us because he didn't have space for it. Point being, we got lucky to get one.
