I'm having trouble finding a career that I will actually enjoy. Someone recommended to me with my education and age to apply to the Air Force to be a pilot. Without going to talk to a recruiter right now, can anyone tell me about the opportunities or how difficult it is to become one? I feel like it would be a very competitive process and would like more insight

Is your health nearly perfect?

Do you live near a reserve unit with a plane you want?

If yes to both, that's a start. Search around, there have been a few threads on here. FHU Aggie went the reserve route and was selected, but sadly had to give it back.

I'd start by not limiting yourself to one service....lots of places to fly with good missions to perform all around.

Join the army as a flight warrant officer. If your balls are big enough.

Plenty of good info on there about becoming a pilot as well as the plethora of other aviation related military jobs. Drop into the forums but be careful about how you ask questions and check your ego at the door otherwise they will eat you alive...

Guard or Reserve is the best way to do it in my opinion. Baseops is an awesome resource to find which units are hiring for UPT and when the interviews will be.
