Regardless of the Rev situation(which he has noted he has only given his opinion and was not involved with the planning of the memorial), having worked with the Commandant very closely when I was a Cadet, I have to say General Ramirez is one of the best gentleman I have ever met. While there are some of his policies that Cadets do not agree with, these policies were always discussed and hashed out with the Major Unit Commanders and other members of his staff. He was very willing to listen to the MUC's issues on his policies and was willing to adopt changes if there was an appealing case to be made. If he felt that his original policy was correct he would put the policy out and would want feedback from the MUCs on how it worked, and would adopt as necessary.
Yes, plenty of these policies are penned by the Commandant, but many of the Cadets are not aware that these changes are made with plenty of feedback from the Corps Commanders and Major Unit Commanders, and if the MUC is worth this 3 diamonds, the feedback from the Outfit commanders.
At the end of the day General Ramirez is always open to hearing feedback from current cadets as well as former cadets. While the chain of command is prefered if you have a personal issue with a policy General Ramirez has always noted that he is open to feedback. Having been in plenty of meetings where I, as well as other Major Unit Commanders, would professionally argue against potential policy, the Commandant would NEVER hold it against us.
Current Cadets that have issues, use your chain of command. Cadets are very much in charge, and General Ramirez wants feed back from the "joes" of the Corps. Talk to your outfit commanders, if that doesn't work talk to your Major Unit Commanders. Give professional arguments as to why you disagree. I know when I was a MUC so many times I would hear "this new policy is wrong because its just bull**** and kills old army". Give the reasons, maybe even right them down, and if your command team is worth their diamond(s) they will bring it up.
