We are in need of a 20 x 38 garrison flag for the San Marcos Academy. www.smabears.org

Is it better to purchase a nylon flag or a polyester flag for day to day use?

Also if anyone has a vendor that they would recommend I'd appreciate it.

I already have looked online and have found 3 flag vendors that I am contacting.

Thanks

Here in the Corps we buy our 20X30 gameday dorm flags from http://www.betsyrossflaggirl.com/. We buy the nylon because they are more durable.

Were the old ones polyester? I seem to recall most of the large dorm flags (if not all) to feel more rough, not smooth like nylon tends to be.

One concern I have with nylon, and maybe it's just the cheap nylon, is that the colors can bleed into the white. So you have to make sure that if it rains you do not put it away while wet. I'm not sure if this is try with polyester or not, but I remember whenever flag detail retired the small 3x5 nylon flags after they got wet, they'd unfold them all over guard room to get them to dry out. Or at least that's what they were supposed to do.

Check with these guys...they won't steer you wrong...I used them to make four guidons for use by the Maritime Regiment of the Texas State Guard when I was Chief of a Staff for the unit.
