Read the Brig. Gen. Joe Ramirez letter.
Help a cadet attend the A&M vs Arkansas game (Arlington) Sept 27th with a $50 donation via:
12th Man Foundation P.O. Box 2800, College Station, Tx 77841.
Do it NOW...and spread the word.

Greatly appreciate your support for our Corps!

Please make checks payable to: 12th Man Foundation Arkansas Corps Trip.

Thanks again for helping us get the entire Corps to the Arkansas game to yell for our team to Beat the Hell Outta the Hogs! The Corps Trip is BACK! Whoop!

What ever happened to car pool with your buddies and crash at your DFW buddies parent's house or rent a hotel room and all your fish buddies stay in the one room; go to the game and conduct massive pullouts, all on your own dime?

We're planning to bring back pretty much all that you described above with this Corps trip with one exception: going to the game on your own dime. Tickets are over $200 at Cowboys Stadium. The vast majority of our cadets can't afford a ticket at those prices.

I went to the Athletic Dep't and asked for a discount for the entire Corps so they could attend the game. They helped us out by getting us 2500 tickets at $85. I am charging the cadets $35, and asking former students to sponsor a cadet to attend the game for $50.

Again, we are trying to revive the Corps Trip this year and subsequent years, and hopefully this effort to send the entire Corps to the Arkansas game - not just the march-in - will help.

Thanks for your support of our Corps - whether you choose to contribute to this effort or not! Gig 'em!

Yeah, being able to donate online would certainly make it easier and generate a lot more donations!

Ask them to update their webpage so the "dropdown" box includes "Arkansas Corps Trip"!

One of my boys is in the Corps, starting his senior year. It's there a way to sponsor a specific student?

Not trying to be cheap here. I'll throw in an extra $50 if I can, but we's po folk at Casa Longstreet. I'd like to at least take care of my son.

A little back story: we were there for the last Corps trip to Fort Worth, the last one I remember any way. We had 3 kids at the time, my boys would have been about 1 and 3 and their big sister was about 5 (we've had a few more since then). I was working nights, and as soon as I got off work that morning I hurried home, packed the kids and rushed to downtown Fort Worth. Got there a little late and the streets were already packed. I found the closest parking I could, we got out and quickly put big sis in her wheelchair and headed for the parade route. I'm not too ashamed to admit I used the sympathy factor of the cute little girl in the wheelchair to get through the crowd, and we made it curb side just in time to see the FTAB march past, playing the War Hymn iirc. It was glorious to see and hear. The kids were almost as excited as their old man. One of my favorite memories, my daughter waving her arms and making her happy sounds, her 2 little brothers sitting on the curb wide-eyed at the band matching by. We stayed until all were past, then packed up and went home.

My senior told me about the trip this fall, and how excited he was. I asked him if he remembers going when he was little. He said he has some vague memory of being in a big city and watching a bunch of guys march past in a band.

It's cool to see this come back.

If downtown Fort Worth still has those red brick streets it shall be an event the A&M Cadets shall never forget.

(Thank God it's not to be another Arlington "Parking Lot" Corps Trip disaster.)

Can us Aggie Law types up here in Fort Worth help too? Lots of veterans up here.

Fort Worth A&M Club should already be in high-gear for hosting The Texas A&M Cadet Corps.

I'm in the same boat as Longstreet with a Butt in D-Co. I'd like to sponsor my son and three of his D-Co buddies, IF this is possible! If not possible, I'm still in for four. Thanks in advance.

Smithjg, pm or email (address in profile) me re: D Co situation.

Just so you know, D Co has already been completely funded to attend the Arkansas game by a donor. If you'd still like to contribute to fund other cadets to go, that would be greatly appreciated.

Momlaw, I saw your email, but can't reply to it for some reason on the iPad. Thanks for the info and your work in support of D-Co. I knew someone was working behind the scenes for them, from hearing my son talk. Thank you!

Commandant, thank you also for the info, I will call Monday and purchase tickets for some other Cadets. Thank you also for your role with the Corps of Cadets. Our son has never been very talkative, it was almost painful to carry on a conversation with him over the phone. He started with D-Co last semester and now when we see him or visit on the phone with him, we can't get him to shut up. He really is fulfilling a lifelong dream of his. I'm not sure who is more excited about his first March In coming up next month, he or his mom.

Too bad Fort Worth's red-brick Main Street WILL NOT be the "traditional north approach" to the Tarrant County Courthouse.

Was so for many an Aggie Fort Worth Corps Trip decade.

Go to Google Earth.
Then traverse Commerce Street north for an eventual left onto 1st Street, west on 1st to Houston Street, left again and south on Houston to 9th and Reviewing Stand (in front of Convention Center -on 9th).

Note:
Both sides of Commerce is about 85% barren of business fronts. Mostly elevated parking, open lots and abandoned buildings. Gonna be a lonely first-leg spectator void for A&M Cadets on Commerce Street.

Botton line: Better anywhere downtown Fort Worth than out in an Arlington parking lot.

But still, Main Street (Corps moving north or south) would have been a high priority choice.

Apologies for my delinquency but I've been traveling for the past 2 months so I'm just getting around to taking care of a bunch of money related stuff now.

Is there still a way to donate to this? I can't seem to find it using the methods linked to earlier in this thread. Thanks!

You CAN still donate to the cause, using the options listed earlier in the thread. If you have problems, please contact the Office of the Commandant at (979)845-2811 and we'll get it fixed.

Thanks for your support of our Corps! Gig 'em!
