That fake sergeant major thread got me wondering whatever happened to that ***** nozzle from Houston who was parading around as a fake general.

Well, he died.

Makes you wonder if his death was of his own making.

Would he have been the youngest general ever? He was only 45 when he died, I'm assuming that picture was from at least few years prior.

Well, since his obit requested donations to a Buddhist retreat center, one could say it was karma.

Apparently a sad and confused individual, along with being a jerk. Didn't wish him well, but I didn't wish him this bad, either.

it's still baffling to me that someone would pay $2000 for all that garbage and not even have the sense to shave off the chin pubes

Anyone who spent a day in the military would know that guy was a fraud.

I was there the night that picture was taken, and I had seen him on more than one occasion. The other time I saw him he was wearing the upper half of that uniform with a kilt. It was beyond ridiculous.

You really don't need military experience to spot that fake.

Ryan-

Do you have any insight as to his motive? Did he think people would actually think he was a general? Or did he think it was funny? Or was it some sort of strange anti-war statement? Or was he just a loon?

I think we can eliminate "pick up chicks".

I never interacted with him, so I really don't know. I think he was probably just a little off. And I agree that picking up chicks was probably not his forte.

Thanks. Agree with "off", regardless of which sex he was trying to impress.

No. There were many generals in earlier years that were much younger. Custer was a general in his mid to late 20's (I think he was 26 when promoted), and Lafayette may hold the record. He was 19, I think, when Washington appointed him a major general. Maybe somebody could spend the time to look all this up to verify.

The youngest general in US history officially is Galusha Pennypacker, who was 20 when appointed BG during the Civil War.
