I spoke too soon concerning the placement of the cannon. My sincere apologies. I will re-post this week once we verify cannon location. All info below is still correct, but wanted to set the record straight concerning the placement of the cannon. Again, we'll post accurate info on the cannon location once that has been verified and approved. Thanks.

March-in will still take place 1 1/2 hrs prior to kick-off.

The cannon we will use for games is the new M101A1 105mm howitzer. However, the cannon is not yet completely refurbished, so we may have to use the Spirit of '02 for the first couple of games until the 105mm cannon is completely finished. Intent is to use the 105mm cannon for games, and the Spirit of '02 is used for ALL OTHER PMC functions, including step-off.

We'll know more about the cannon this week, but intent is for the new 105mm cannon to be used for games.

Hope this answers your questions. Still a lot to learn as we begin to use the newly renovated stadium, but the game day experience will still be a great one, and the Corps will be a big part of that experience!

Without the keepers of the Spirit, A&M would be just another big University. With the Corps A&M is special in so many MANY positive ways.

I wish the tailgaters would follow the March-in from the Corps Dorm area and into Kyle for march-in like in the good old days. Yes, I know it's often hot and people like their comforts to be able to brave the rigors of Kyle... But, the Corps and the FTAB is as much of Game Day as any other activity - including the game itself - many of us "old Ags".

It's too bad the gigatron/ribbons take away much of the center of attention from traditions that count! ...and that people can only gripe about the Corps Block, etc., as if there was something other that would be attractive to viewers on TV or in the stadium?

The Corps stands for history and tradition and most things "right" in a world of uncertainty. If people don't like it to the point they not only don't join - but must be critical - they are in the wrong place and came to the wrong university... Highway 6 runs both ways!

Gig 'em!

Long live the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M.

Aggie1 not sure what you are talking about. The streets are lined both sides from the dorms to the stadium with on lookers watching march in!

While we have not yet finalized the location of the cannon for this weekend's game, the one thing we DO know is that it will NOT be in the stadium.

Although last Saturday we thought the top of the SW tower was an option, we were very premature in ouranalysis, and failed to take into account safety concerns, structural concerns, and impact on concessions and fans seated and standing in that area. Once we were apprised of all those concerns, we started looking for other options. At this time we have NOT yet finalized a location for the cannon, but will be conducting more testing this evening to hopefully find a location that works for all - including the Environmental Health and Safety folks.

Once we know a set location for the cannon, we will let everyone know.Regardless of where we place the cannon, it will still be a great game day for all, we will all enjoy the newly renovated stadium, and the Ags will Beat the HELL Outta Lamar!

Thanks for your support of our Corps! Gig 'em!

I hope all of you appreciate the Commandant's patience and willingness to engage with all of us Old Ags. I am excited to see how hard he's pushed for continuing the great March In tradition. I'm sure there were detractors and down right antagonists. I will be there to watch the greatest student organization in America March into Kyle Field on Saturday. I also look forward to the Rally to the Guidons event and be able to participate in the great tradition. Thanks General!
