Howdy!

My name is Addison Jaynes, Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2016. I have the pleasure of being the Coordinator of a first-ever event in the Corps of Cadets - Holiday On The Quad. Below you can find an advertisement with information for this new event.

We are also looking for individuals who are interesting in sponsoring and supporting this event in a variety of ways. To find out how you can be involved, please email me at addisonjaynes@gmail.com.

Howdy Aggies!

For the very first time, the Corps of Cadets is proud to present Holiday On The Quad 2014. Please check out our Facebook page, read it, like it, and SHARE it!

On Sunday, December 7, we will be having our first Holiday On The Quad Festival and we want YOU to come out!

Do you want...

...some holiday cheer?
...amazing christmas lights?
...some warm drink on a cold evening?
...tasty treats?
...to support a good cause?

...then come on out and enjoy yourself!

The event begins at 7:30pm and will last until at least 9:30pm. Donations will be collected for goodies and warm drinks which will go to the March of Dimes campaign for premature babies.

On another note, every outfit will be partnering with an organization (fraternity, sorority, club, etc) to help decorate their part of the quadrangle - it will be a competition (major unit vs. major unit - who can have the best decorations). Get in contact with your friends in the Corps to see how YOU can help!

Questions? Post on our page and let us answer!

We hope to see you there!

Thanks and Gig 'em!

Do y'all still decorate the dorm halls for Christmas?

Jock07,

I'm a zip right now and we still decorate the hallways, albeit in a much more toned down manner. During my fish year the hallway was filled with lights and garland and Christmas inflatables. However, now that Corps Housing falls under ResLife, the regulations are much more strict. Bah humbug.

Do the fish still sing Christmas carols to the upperclassmen from outside the dorm?

Deck the halls with sergebutt balls, falla lalla la, la, la, la, la

My Majot Unit just got told to basically take everything down by housing.

Like no "holiday lighting" in the hallway.

Maybe if you tell them your are exercising your religious freedoms and call them CHRISTMAS lights!!!!!

AND it should be called Christmas on the Quad.

Holiday on the Quad = 4th of July? Memorial Day? Labor Day? Martin Luther King Day?

Why would you want that much traffic on the quad anyway?

Aren't finals soon?

Is there a lot of cadet buy-in for this? Back when I was there, this wouldn't have gotten much participation unless it was made mandatory. And are the funds raised going towards a general MoD fund? Or to a specific outfit's fund so they can be ODs?

And yeah, go study. BTHO finals!

One of the best parts of fish year was caroling at the sorority houses...please tell me that's still a thing...

Yeah, I am not a fan of this event. My son is a fish and the last thing he and his buddies need right now is to waste time doing this.

Respectfully disagree, of all the crap I did as a fish last year decorating for Christmas was the most fun. We didn't tell ours they had to but they are and they're enjoying it.

Our dorm took less than an hour and a half to decorate. And it wasn't just fish involved, all classes pitched in to put up lights. It was also a completely optional event. Like CharlieBrown17 said, decorating for Christmas was one of my favorite memories of fish year.

Yeah, that's cool. My fish and his buddies really got into it this afternoon and enjoyed setting up. I'm ok with that, and will be attending. I just didn't like what sounded like it was another mandatory thing during finals prep. I can admit when I'm wrong. Gig 'em and Merry Christmas!

Good job Addison. Can't believe how well it went on pretty short notice. If we do it again next year with more planning time it should be epic! And as you know if we do it twice, it's a tradition!

I thought the Holiday on the Quad was fun and very festive! Kudos to the cadets making it a great family event and I look forward to it again next year! Hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday break!

Well done event, we enjoyed it. The wife and I drove in from Victoria just to participate, of course mama got to see her CT son, so that made it worthwhile also. Nicely done! And it's not Christmas on the Quad due to the number of "non Christians" in the Corps. I have no problem with that.

I'd be very surprised if any of the "non-Christians" in the Corps complained, or had anything to do with it being called Holiday on the Quad instead of Christmas on the Quad. I don't know who made the call on that, but I also wouldn't be surprised if you were told that it's because of them.

Howdy folks!

The Corps of Cadets, in coordination with David Gardner's Jewelers, is proud to present: Holiday On The Quad 2015!

With multiple corporate sponsors, this event is going to be huge!

Come on out on Sunday, December 6 from 7:30-10pm and enjoy snacks, hot drinks, games, and attractions (did someone mention rides?!). Just like last year...everything is solely donation-based and supports March of Dimes!

There is tons of information on our Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/holidayonthequad/

We can't wait to see you there!

Howdy!

This is a friendly event for everyone! We celebrate Christmas and even have endless Christmas-themed decorations (you should come and see for yourself!); however there is so much more to this event.

This time of year represents the last time the cadets are together over the winter break and this festival celebrates Christmas, New Years, and any other holiday you'd like to add! To us, it is a friendly time for everyone to join together for a great cause, see some Christmas lights, and partake in joyous festivities!

I hope you can join us!

Excellent! It is a much larger event this year! Make sure to start in Centennial Park and work your way inwards!

This appears to be a wonderful idea! I regret I am unable to attend. Please let us know how it turned out. Congratulations in advance on your successful efforts to organize and promote a great Christmas event. Blue star for you!

I didn't make it, but the wife went for the event. Our son is a zip and this is the second time for her to go. She said it was well done, lots of things to do and much bigger than last year. She said it was well for the 2 hour drive,
