And send the Corps to the hoops game. Student get in free. Shouldn't be any test first week after Spring Break. And the team needs the support.

Can't believe I'm so clueless as to forget today is Sunday. Yeah, with enough forewarning, Duncan should be able to move chow around. And

jramirez@corps.tamu.edu

I bet he'd reply.

90 percent of cadets hate anything mandatory. Probably 20-30 percent even hate going to football games. The worst part isn't them not going or not wanting to go, the worst part is when they turn around as soon as they get there and sneak back to the quad.

I disliked almost anything mandatory. But as a cadet, especially if you are an RV, a mascot corporal, in the Band, etc. etc. you realize that you are the face of the university that the university chooses to project. Support for the football team is almost written in to the deal.

Deal with it.

In case anyone was wondering- Formation has been cancelled and cadets can go to the game for free. Well, ALL students can go for free thanks to Coach Kennedy.

Haha we would come back for the 4th quarter though!

Obviously. Just stating the fact that cadets are expeted to support all sports at some level, but football is the mandatory one.

I hate anything mandatory. I hated anything mandatory as a cadet, I hated anything mandatory in the Army, I hate anything mandatory now, however I recognize its need & think this is a good idea.

unfortunately it didn't happen, as there were just a handful of cadets visible when the camera turned to the crowd.

It was cancelled but not until about 4. I would say 50ish cadets came.

Sounds to me that some of you really don't belong in the Corps or any other part o f society which requires mandatory presence. Unfortunately, in the real world, one encounters mandatory requirements in all walks of life. Now, is the lack of interest in school spirit ie attendance at football and basketball games, a failure on the part of the Corps because we never had the problem back in the 60's.

I don't totally dismiss your assertions. But it's a different world now. I looked at your Zip year (fall 1969) there were THREE home games. Add in two Corps trips, that's a total of maybe 5 mandatory games. Games that took a lot less time, BTW, because they weren't televised. Fewer folks had cars, there was a lot less to do in good old BCS, few girls to distract you...

The current zips had six homes games, a Corps trip, and a bowl game for the BQs, Yell Leaders, Rev handlers, etc.

Lets also talk about what sports they support. Our day; football, basketball, baseball. Maybe a little track. Today? Much longer seasons of each, plus women's sports: basketball, soccer, softball, etc. etc.

Oh, and by the way, we're opening a new crapper on the West Campus. Wouldn't the Band, the Yell Leaders, FDT, RVs, and every cadet who we can catch like to come over and be a part of it?

And I shouldn't even have to mention the increased academic competition just to be an Aggie student.

So you went to every single football, basketball, track, swim, soccer, baseball, softball, gymnastics and volleyball game? That's amazing!

Old Army Died in 1877 when they got gravel for the tents. If you were real "old army" you slept in a cot on the mud.

That or maybe things change & we adapt. In the '60s the Corps was radically different from the late '90s which is radically different than today. Guess what? So is A&M and the rest of the world.

Long rant paralleling Ranger School & the Corps that points out the last fifteen years of Ranger graduates have been the schools most effective at platoon level leadership.
