I received word yesterday that the A&M chapters of Athletes in Action & Valor (a ministry to cadets on campus) are now directing their proceeds from the 5K being held on campus tomorrow to Sean Campbell's family. At least one local business, Elms Orthodontics, has stepped up to provide matching funds to the family for each registration fee.

On January 14, 2016, on a night training mission, helicopters from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 were involved in a catastrophic collision while flying off the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. All twelve pilots and crew members in both aircraft were lost. Major Shawn Campbell, Texas A&M Class of 2001 was among those lost.
In light of this recent tragedy UP5k is now taking part in helping to honor the life and service to our country of Major Campbell.
