The VFW was founded on 29 September, 1899. The VFW is America's oldest and largest major combat veteran organization. Congratulations on 124 years helping our nation's combat veterans.

Hmm. Never really thought about it but odd date for the founding of the VFW. Thought it was a post WWII thing. Seeing as how, in 1899 all we had been involved in was the Mexican War and in the middle of the Span Am war. Barabarry Pirates, maybe?
